How to clean a laptop screen safely

Fingerprints and dust are easy to remove, but the wrong cleaner can damage the coating of the screen. Here is the safe way.

1. Switch the laptop off and unplug it.
2. Dampen a soft microfibre cloth with a little water - never spray the screen directly.
3. Wipe in one direction without pressing.
4. Dry with a clean part of the cloth and let the screen air for a minute.

Avoid alcohol wipes, window cleaner and paper towels: they leave streaks or tiny scratches.
